Hello there!
Both of my first two business coaches advised me not to do what I am about to do—write my very first blog about myself…GASP! I’m not even sure if Google knows I am breaking this imaginary rule (made up in order to “help my business succeed”) … but here I am, writing my very first blog about myself, Jessica Marie.
If there is one thing I have learned in my adventures, it’s that owning a business is similar to just about everything in life: one size does NOT fit all. Ever. Seriously, that is true in nearly every possible human experience—parenting, owning a business, styling your hair, wiping your ass (I am looking at you, bidet folks).
We ALL do it differently.

Which is to say, sorry not sorry business coaches. I also edit while I am in bed…IN MY PAJAMAS! Clearly, I didn’t listen. Per usual.
So any who, if you’re on this page, you might be looking for an Asheville wedding photographer. Or browsing for someone who can curate the best elopement photos in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or just cruising around to see who can authentically capture an adventure with your love. Rest assured, you’re in the right place. I could, quite possibly, be just the photographer you’re looking for! 🙂
Wild Marie Photography was born shortly after my actual son was born. He was a June baby. And, as I was working in public education at the time, work was about to start again in late August. Y’all, I could not imagine leaving my two-month-old baby to go back to work (to take care of other people’s babies, no less!) … there was no way. So, the idea was to take another year off. However, something else was born in the meantime: Wild Marie. I picked up a camera and started taking pictures of my son, my surroundings, my ordinary everydays—simply documenting the mundane in hopes of finding some creativity to overcome postpartum depression.
And friends, it worked.
The joy and passion I discovered in those early days of building Wild Marie can never be replicated. She was born out of some of the worst months of my life—which eventually led to some of the BEST months of my life.
The women in my family all carry the name Marie like a generational pendante. And, having been dubbed “The Wild One” growing up, it felt so natural to name the thing I had built after both my unique experience in this world and the shared inheritance I bring with me along the way: Wild Marie.
And so here it is, Wild Marie’s spot on the internet, welcome!

I live in the Blue Ridge Beauty state of North Carolina. I was born here. Raised here. And I pray to God I die here too. I’m married to such a smokeshow of a fireman and have two absolutely stellar children, two perfect dogs and, um, some opossums. Don’t worry, I’ll blog about the opossums soon (the business coaches would love that!).
The ways I like to fuel my soul include watching birds, shredding on my mountain bike, hiking, reading (for hours) … and spending time with the people that I love. In the game “Never have I ever”, my biggest flex is that I have never eaten at Taco Bell. Like, ever. Yuck y’all.
This blog is mostly dedicated to Wild Marie (this is, after all, her spot on the internet) … but I did want to introduce myself 🙂
And don’t worry, I will soon talk about the opossums!
All my love,
Wild Marie
