Friends, I had never been! How many times had I driven past this castle like wedding Venue without ever a reason to go inside.
Until now! A sweet friend & fellow photographer, Sean Sziets, invited me to be a second photographer for him on a gorgeous November day at the 1920’s charming castle venue, Homewood.
The glorious thing about being a second photographer for someone (something I actually rarely do) is that it is much like being a passenger that never has to drive on a cross country road trip and gets to sight see the entire ride. While the main photographer is the driver, navigator and gas filler upper.
I was THRILLED my first time at Homewood would be spent as a sight seeing passenger!

About the Venue:
Of course most couples first want to know : ”Where can we get ready?”
Homewood does offer a private bridal suite – not only for ladies y’all, any human of the bridal party is welcome in this space- accessible through a private elevator.
Aunt Sharon and crazy cousin Jesse will not be able find you before the ceremony up there- pinky promises!
This Bridal suit comes with two comfy spaces to chill and get ready, as well as a tiny kitchen space and table. Every couple has different needs, so this couple decided to rent a spacious airbnb just a few miles away in the Historic Montford District in Asheville where they got ready with their family and shared a private first look.

After this, we all caravaned to Homewood for their Mansion Style Wedding on the most gorgeous late fall day for their intimate ceremony surrounded by close friends and family and later their elegant dinner & reception.
This ceremony was every bit of salty tears and fall sunshine friends. The groom’s children stood by their side, watching their father declare his forever love for their BEST EVER stepmom.
I’m a stepmom, and I know that we are the bee’s knees.

Afterwards, this couple had a candlelight dinner for their guests, catered by Celine and Company, And friends, I LOVE me some Celine and Company. Their staff is top notch and their cuisine is out of this world. Each and every time, it’s a banger.

You won’t be expecting this next part: After their cozy dinner, this couple pulled out a SAMURI SWORD to cut their cake- and this cake was not just any cake. It was a DRAGON. Yes, you read that right, a dragon cake.

I mean, can we just talk about this cake friends?! This is the most realistic cake that I have ever seen in my entire life- in fact, I didn’t even know it was a cake until I was told. Thankfully I was told, because I had a dying urge to touch it- but I didn’t because I do, believe it or not, know how to behave.
Cake made by Valhalla cakes, and I better hear a standing ovation over the internet.
My passenger seat Homewood adventure was coming to an end after the dragon met its death by The Samurai Groom & his damsel, not in distress. But not before a little breather for our couple in the cozy fall air under the twinkle lights and night sky.

A gorgeous wedding day, hosted by one of the BEST Wedding Venues Asheville has to offer.
Rumor has it, the guests are still partying to this very day…
Will Homewood be your Wedding location!
